saving custom categories in tasks

C

Chris

Hello all,

I have a user who is now using another computer. I
created a new outlook profile on the new machine. The
user is now complaining that all of his Outlook
customizations are gone. (high level manager so I have to
take him seriously). For example, he had many customized
categories for his tasks and also many local email rules.
Is there a file that I can copy from his old machine to
the new one that would have these customizations saved?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Categories are stored in teh registry;
For Outlook 2003;
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook

For other versions just replace the version number.
The rules can be exported by using the Tools-> Wizard Rules... Here are
Export/Import options available

save my settings wizard saves too much and is not easily configured. it's
fine for restoring the same settings to your existing machine with identical
settings (user name etc) as soon as you use it on another machine with a
different logon, it messes things up.

a simple import/export of categories is needed.

Indeed! Just like Rules... would be GREAT if one could keep a backup CAT file
(or what have you)! :) Oh well maybe in Outlook 2005.

Ciao!
