saving embedded file problems...

What I do is have the FrontPage and Windows Explorer
windows open side by side. I drag the files from the
Explorer window to FrontPage's window, landing my cursor
on top of the folder that I want to import my files to.
This drag-n-drop method is very easy to do and eliminates
any confusion.

After the files have been saved to the FrontPage folder,
open that folder. Now drag that picture file to the open
page where you want it. Couldn't be easier!

I've read the posts already here regarding this problem,
but I am also having difficulty and I don't understand the
explanation-
"With your FP web open, use File | Import and import the images from wherever
you have them stored on your computer into the images folder in your web.
*Then*, File | Insert Picture onto your page before saving."

When I go to Import, it doesn't specify where to put
them, do they automatically go to the images folder? -
I've tried to do this, but it's not making a difference.
I tried changing the pic from .jpeg to .gif, but they are
photos and the quality isn't there, but they still didn't
attach on the web- I still get boxes with x's-
