saving files with mapped drives

I access a vpn, when offline the drives are still mapped. When i click on
save as in powerpoint, there is an extremely long delay. If I unmap the
drives, its fine. Im using XP pro and office 2k3. Is there any fix for this
other than making myself logon/logoff scripts that unmap and remap my drives
every time.

Dereck, STOP!!!

Saving to a mapped drive is an invitation to corrupted files and lots of
cussing when it happens. (Not if it happens, WHEN it happens.) Save the
presentation to your local hard drive and then copy it to where you want it.

This is what im trying to do...save locally even though my mapped drives are
offline, its still "searching" them. same problem as in article 313937. Need
to know if there is any way around this, i see where there was a hotfix for
2000 but im using xp pro
