saving network password

My husband Jim Mabry, who is the default account, is
unable to send/retrieve e-mail because a box continues to
appear saying "Enter network password". The "save
password" box is checked.
Our internet carrier said it's a problem with our
microsoft windows xp, home edition 2002.
Can you please help us??
