Saving Pictures Locally...

David Bock

When we switched to Frontpage2003 it stopped offering me the option to save
the images into my website. I have been getting some images that they put up
on Imagestation, and adding the image to a personal page. My problem is that
I want to save the images on a local subdirectory rather than pull them of
of imagestation every time.

I know that there is a simple way to tell it to save all of the pictures to
subdirectory X and use them from there, I just can't seem to figure it out,
and I do not want to admit defeat to my wife...

Thanks E.T., but I have photoshop, and I have no problem resizing the
pictures.
I used to copy the pictures into a web page, and when I saved the page it
would give me the option to save them to a directory. It no longer gives me
that option, and it pulls them off of imagestation every time they access
the page. Imagestation does not permit this. I would like a simple way to
tell it to put the pictures into the Images subdirectory of the website.

Thanks for your help...
David

It seem now that your only solution, is to save the images to your desktop, then modify if necessary
in PhotoShop, then import into your current open FP web, then insert on your page.

Doing it this way will avoid having FP modifying the image quality, since FP doesn't have to save
the image. Yes this is more steps, but you will have better control over your images.

Yuk, Is there a setting I can change so that it will act the way it used
to...
IE when I embed an image into a webpage to save the image to the website,
have it save the image...

Sorry, there is no setting to control this.

I'm a newbie and wanted to do the same thing just now.

Here's how I did it with FP2003 on a simple page with text, pics (.jpg, .bmp, etc), and tables (no frames)...

1. Open IE, save the remote page as a .MHT file.

2. Open the .MHT file (now 100% local content) in IE

3. Save as .HTM file (still 100% local content) - this will create a file and a matching folder for embedded content

4. Import .HTM file with FP2003

5. Save it - a dialog window named "save embedded files" will ask where to place the pics (embedded content)- you can specify a new
folder for them

6. Now you have a regular .HTM file with local links to embedded content

7. Done!

On the other hand if you construct/save the page with FP2003 by simply control-a/control-c copying a remote page (will initially
contain pic links to remote server) and then pasting it into a new FP2003 page and then saving it (the original), then you could
proceed from step #1 above. Finally, blow away the original prototyped page if you see the new 100% local one is OK.

I tried downloading the original and then immediately saving as an .HTM file, skipping the .MHT step, but this created a broken
final result with missing pics.
