Saving Printer Settings

Hello
I am using a plotter to print visio drawing which is 122" W and 42" H. I set
up printer and drawing custom size in the printer settings (PostScript) as
well as in Visio. However, when I open up this file again, all printer
settings are gone. I am not sure where I can change printer and drawing size
settings on a permenant basis for this particular drawing.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Syed

menu File -> Page Setup -> Page Size
and set the size there.

Thanks Paul, I did that. But setting never remains save there. I would like
to setup these settings so even when I send out a file, it should go with it
for other users. Similar like MSWord, if you setup your page margins and size
etc., it keeps the setting for a particular file.

Visio is dependent on the locally installed printer driver having the page
definition that you are trying to use. For instance, if you selected a
pre-built page size for a printer, and gave the drawing to another user
with the same printer, or a printer which supported the page size, all
should work. The problem here is two fold - you must define the Custom
Page size in the printer driver before Visio tries to 'link' to it.
Secondly, you need to define the custom page size in the same printer
driver on the target computer where the drawing will be opened - Visio
cannot do this for you, at least not in a way that is permanent. So you
are able to define on the fly, but Visio does not make permanent changes in
the local system, so it is lost on next open.

Try creating the same Custom Page Size definition in the same printer
driver on two computers. Then open the Visio drawing and set the printer
settings to use the driver and the same custom page size. Save the drawing
and take to the second computer, and see if it now opens with the desired
print settings. This should work for any kind of printer, Postscript or
PCL.
