Saving project plan to subweb?

I was told that there is a way to save project plans directly to the project
subweb by entering in the URL in the Save field when saving the plan as a
file. I've attempted this and get a message that pooled resources aren't
supported on a web server. I get this error when there are no resources on
my project team and when there are resources assigned to a task.

It would be most helpful if we could save the plan to the subweb - and even
better if we could save it as an HTML file to the subweb. Any ideas?

I do not understand your purpose in saving a project directly to its subweb.
What's the point? What features do you think you are missing in Project Web
Access? Please let us know more so that we can help you.

In essence, we have the "perfect storm". We have team members wanting to
print the plan to use for discussions in meetings. However, the plans are
too large to use the Print Grid functionality. This would not be a problem
if users had Office XP or 2003 and could use the Export function. However,
most of our users are still on Office 2000 and can not use this. We've
attempted the "paste to clipboard, open as xml in Excel" route - however,
that does not work in all cases (I believe it's due to the MSXML version on
the user's machine....but again, we're dealing with standard images so
telling users to upgrade anything isn't very feasible). So - we're left with
a situation where users (team members) cannot print the plan. This is a very
hot item for us right now. We were are hoping the saving of the plan as HTML
to a subweb will solve this problem.

Thanks!

I now understand your situation. Why don't you save the project as an HTML
file from Microsoft Project (File - Save as Web Page) and then upload the
HTML file to the Shared Documents library for the selected project?
Perhaps the others will have some ideas for you as well.

That would work, except that we're running in a load-balanced terminal server
environment and users would have no way of knowing which terminal server they
saved their file to. But maybe if we have users upload to the subweb from an
IE session on the Terminal server their on right after saving the file. That
might work.....however, it will change our disk space considerations if we
have lots of folks saving files to the terminal server....

It just baffles me that it has to be this hard to print. Yes, I realize
that we're in a digital age, but folks still like their paper!

Thanks!

Katie:

Your IT team can run scripts to clear out files leftover from Terminal
Sessions. Generally speaking, when working in a Terminal Services session,
you *should* have your PMs also run their concurrent PWA session in the
Terminal Server session as well.
