When you published the project, did you actually click Collaborate -
Publish - All Information (or Publish - Project Plan and Publish - New and
Changed Assignments)? These are the only direct actions that publish a
project plan to PWA, and if you didn't do Collaborate - Publish - xxx, then
your project plan is not published.
On the other hand, when you save a project in the Project Server database,
the project becomes immediately visible in the Project Center view of PWA.
This leads people to mistakenly believe that their project has been
published. Furthermore, we are also misled when we see the file extension
".published" at the end of our project name in Microsoft Project 2002. Even
though the file extension says ".published" and even though we can see the
project in the Project Center view, if we haven't published the plan using
Collaborate - Publish - xxx, then the project is not published.
To make sure that your project isn't being published against your will by
Microsoft Project 2002, you should do the following:
1. Open the project
2. Click Tools - Options - Collaborate
3. In the "On every save, publish the following information to Microsoft
Project Server" section, make sure that none of the option boxes are
selected
4. Click OK
