Saving sent e-mails

L

Linda Lee

Is there a way to have Outlook ask if you want to save a
sent e-mail and then direct you to where you want to save
it? I find that I don't want to save every e-mail and the
ones that I do save, I want them in a folder that makes
sense. Now I have to review the sent folder, delete the
junk and move the stuff that needs to be moved. I could
save a lot of time if I could get Outlook to prompt
whether I want to save an e-mail and where I want to save
it to. At my previous employer, we used Lotus Notes and
had that functionality.

Thanks for your help!
Linda

I'm not sure which version of Outlook you're using, but you might try
creating a rule. Make one that applies to all messages, and whenever it sees
an incoming message that is from you, and CCd to you, it moves it to a
specified folder. Then just CC yourself on any message you want to save. I
would think that method is better than being prompted as to whether you want
to save each time you send a message.

You'll still need to move messages from the specified folder to other
folders, but at least you won't have to look through all your sent messages.

Be careful with a rule that applies to all incoming messages, however; if
you don't create it properly, it could move ALL your messages to a folder
other than your Inbox.
