Saving & Temp Files

Darcey Steiner

I have a user who's Word XP is acting funny, when she
saves her document, it looks like it has saved, so she
closes out of Word and then when she goes back in, the
document is blank, also, every document she was working
on that day has temp files still open even though none of
the files associated to them are open. Any thoughts on
what could cause this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Darcey,

Where are the files stored? Network drive? Local drive?

Have you tried opening any of the temp files to see if they contain
the document?

What patches do you have installed for Word? Take a look under
Help/About to find the patch level and full version number.

Files are stored on a network (Novell). I have tried to
open/salvage the temp files but no luck. We are using
Word XP (10.4219.4219) SP-2.

Try an experiment by getting the user to save the files on her local drive.
Does that work and do the temp files get removed OK? The description of the
fault sounds like some weird Novell problem.
