Saving to a network server

I have a user who saves her documents to a folder on the network server. Some of her documents, however, just seem to disappear. When you do a file-open and look in her folder on the server, these documents do not appear. However, if I use the search function and check that location, it will find them and allow me to open. Has anyone else seen this? She is running Word 2002 on an XP machine. Thanks.

Perhaps the user you are assisting has accidentally selected the incorrect "Files of type" option in the File, Open dialog box
In other words...she clicks on File, Open...dialog box comes up...at the bottom of the dialog box, it says "Files of type"...maybe the wrong file type is selected? For example, if she has it set to look for files of type "dot", then it will not be able to "see" her recently created "doc" files. A lot of people do this and report it as missing files. The fact that you can find those files through means other than Word, makes me suspect that this is the problem. Best of luck to you. Joseph S Johnson
