Saving to CD

J

James Hahn

Any file saved to CD will be read-only while it is on the CD - that's a
feature of the media and there's nothing you can do about it.

After the database is copied from the CD to the hard drive it might remain
read-only, depending on how it was transferred. In this case you can change
the read-only setting by right-clicking the file and selecting Properties
and unchecking the Read-only checkbox.

Saving it to an RW CD is the only way. Saving it to a regular CD will
always make an MDB read only. The Read Only attribute remains set when you
copy it to the importing HD but once there you can collect the file and
clear it's read-only property.

Um, simply out of curiosity, have you ever worked with an Access db on a RW
CD? Did it actually work? Efficiently?
