Saving Word Docs from Office 2003 in Word for Mac format

I used to be able to save MSWord docs in mac format, which I need to do, in order to send to someone with an older Mac. However, since I've upgraded to Office 2003, the choice of file types in "Save As" no longer includes any MSWord for Mac formats at all

Has that capability gone away completely, is there a setting adjustment I need to make, or am I able to simply save it as an MSWord document and have it still be viewable by someone with an older version of Word for Mac

Thanks in advance for your help

How old is their Mac? Everything after word 97 is in identical file format,
saving as earlier versions just doesn't support certain features.

If sending to someone using a version earlier than MacWord 98, then save as
RTF. Otherwise, you should be fine.

This webpage includes an equivalency chart for Mac and Win versions, if you
want more info.
A note on the differences between Mac and WinWord:
