How do I save just one tab of a workbook file?

Not sure what you mean: Each worksheet is a part of the same file just like
each "page" is a part of a word processing document. You can't save one
portion without saving the entire file.

If you are actually looking to save a specific worksheet in a separate file
by itself, Control/Right-Click the sheet tab & select Move or Copy Sheet,
then choose New Book from the dropdown menu. Otherwise you'll have to be
more exact about what you're trying to do.
