Scan into word

Does anyone know why when I scan a document (spanish book) and
it loads in Word, some words for example, Los, turns into 105 or llamas
turns into lla"^"as or something like that...Seems like it doesn't like some
letters and/or words.

Anybody know what's up with that and how to fix that? Maybe some setting in
word to accept certain words?

It isn't Word, per se, but the scanning / optical character recognition
software that does this. This is a problem inherent in scanning and some
software is better at it than others.

That was my next guess!

So, it's the scanning software that's the problem. Do you know of any
scanning software that is right on the money as far as reading in correctly?

Graham Mayor, who has some experience with this, has frequently said that
the latest version of ABBYY FineReader is the best there is, bar none.

It's purely a personal opinion, of course, but Finereader is more accurate
straight out of the box than any other I have tried.

what about Omnipage Pro 14?

Which has the best accuracy?

The last one I tried was 11, which was not as good, but these things improve
all the time. If the updates in between are more than cosmetic, it should be
worth trying. The character reading accuracy is usually pretty good, its the
document formatting, especially to Word format where such software is weak.
None is perfect, but Finereader makes a fair stab at the task.
