A scanner is basically copying a picture of the item in the scanner. To have the Words be editable they need to be processed by
'Optical Character Recognition' (OCR) software either as part of the scanning process or from the scanned result.
If you're using MS Office Document Imaging then the OCR is performed separately after the scan when you choose the Send to Microsoft
Word choice. Your scanner may have come with its own OCR software, in which case the scan+OCR may be the combined process method.
Pictures being scanned are usually sent to a photo or picture editor software package. Many of those have an 'acquire from scan'
choice in their File or other menus that then pull from your scanner, while the scanner may also have come with software that
includes a graphic editor or lets you choose which of the programs you have to choose as the destination of a scan.

need a certain software or can i scan to word and edit there.
