scanning large documents

Rob Brooks

How can I scan large documents - A3 and larger and produce a pdf file to
store on my PC and archive. I have some old historical documents that I
would like to re-produce this way.

An Office 2003 novice

Many thanks

Either take the documents to someone who has a scanner that will handle A3
size or purchase a scanner that will. Since the paper is 297 X 420 mm or
11.7 X 16.5 (A3) inches in size, you will need a scanner that will handle
tabloid paper sizes.

You might also try to scan on a standard flat bed scanner and then stitch
the images together in a image program. Once you have your image or images
create a PDF file from it by printing to a PDF printer program.

You can't do any of what you want to do natively in Office easily without
the proper scanner even though MS Office's Document imaging can do what you
want except for creating the PDF file.. It all depends on the scanner.
