Scanpst.exe Didn't Fix the Problem

I ran scanpst.exe and it indicated that it found and repair problems. I
still have on outbound email hung up in the outbox. What are the next steps
to remove this email?

When I try to delete it, I get this message: "this item could not be
deleted. It was either moved or already deleted, or access was denied.

I plan to migrate the pst to another computer and want to fix this first.

Dear spartan76_98,

- Create a new PST file "File/New/Personal Folder (PST)"

- Name this "Personal Folder NEW"

- Change the "delivery folder".

- In Outlook 2002 - 2003 under "Tools/E-Mail-Accounts/Show existing
E-Mail-Accounts" => Click on Next

- In the left corner you see the "Delivery folder". Change this to =>
"Personal Folder NEW"

- Restart Outlook and confirm the message "delivery folder was
changed......" with "Yes".

Now you normally delete the E-Mail in the "old" Mailbox".

After you deleted the e-mail in the Outbox, change the "delivery folder"
back to "Personal Folder".

After you changed the delivery folder, restart Outlook, confirm the message
"delivery folder was changed......" with "Yes" and delete now the "Personal
Folder NEW".

Maybe it helps.

This may need to be a new post; but, I'm having trouble doing that so allow
me to ask my question here. I have started to run Scanpst on my historical
file, which could not be opened by Outlook 2007. During the scan, I get the
error message, "An error has occurred which caused the scan to be stopped. No
changes have been made to the scanned file. (X) OK." Does anyone have any
suggestions as to what may be causing this "fault" and/or how to work around
it. I have no idea what may have caused the problem in the first place, but
the historical e-mail is very important to me. Thanks.

Sorry I didn't state in my earlier post that the error occurred at the end of
Phase 6 of 8 Phases, which might be significant.

Have you been able to open this data file previously?
Has it been moved since it was last opened successfully?
What version of OL was this data file created in, & if pre 2003 what is its
size?
Have you tried running scanpst.exe several times?

Thank you for your response. Yes, I have been able to open this file before.
It was last modified 5/7/2008, just before my computer crashed on 5/9. I had
backed up this file to an external hard drive. It is 1,987,985 KB in size
(when I hover my mouse over it, the size is shown as 1.89 GB). The Microsoft
Office Outlook Personal Folders file was created under MS XP Pro SP2 and OL
2007. After the computer was repaired, I have installed MS Vista Premium Home
and re-installed Outlook 2007 (MS Office Pro 2007). I open OL successfully
to a brand new file using this e-mail account. I copy the original file from
the external hard drive to a separate partition on the internal hard drive. I
then attempt to "Open" this PST file from the internal hard drive and get the
OL error message telling me I need to run SCANPST on the file. I have run
scanpst.exe several times on the file residing both on the internal and
external hard drives with the previously-described results.

Also, I have multiple profiles, which have carried over successfully using
the same above process. However, this one has a problem, which I certainly
hope can be resolved. I will appreciate any guidance toward a solution.

Assuming outlook wasnt connected to your backup data file, when your system
crashed, it is possible that the method of backup failed, and if that is the
case you may have to resort to either a third party recovery tool, or
company
You could, I guess, try chkdsk, but if the same problem is evident on both
drives I dont think this would do anything.
BTW Is this a usb/firewire external dive or network drive?

The problem file was not active on Outlook at the time of the "crash." The
external drive is usb. Do you or any others have a third party recovery tool
or company to suggest I contact? Since this file has important historical
info, I really do want to recover it, if possible.
