scatter graphs - labelling data points

I am creating a scatter graph of 16 sets of (x,y)
measurements, and want to show a 'label' for each set of
data points. Is there an easy way to do this in Excel?

(Even if I set up each set as a separate series, the 'show
label' and 'show value' option only show the x or y data,
not the series name.)

Any help appreciated!

There are a couple useful and free Excel addins that can automatically
label data points, using labels in a worksheet range:
