I think it's quite deceiving for Microsoft to advertise the MS Project System
as an enterprise solution, yet it doesn't provide the ability to show
cross-sections of multiple projects, unless, of course, you create a master
schedule outside the project server. Then anyone wanting to see that
cross-section would need to have MS Project on their PC, something that's
been around long before Project Server.
Since MS says it's an enterprise solution, wouldn't be nice to see all the
individual tasks across multiple schedules that are late (in one view) or see
all tasks assigned to resources found in a particular RBS (tasks, not just
projects) or all tasks added to schedules as a result of a change request.
All of these views require PWA to see all the projects found in project
server as an integrated whole, rather than separate projects.
Wake up Microsoft, Open Plan has you beat hands down.
