"Schedule Synchronization" Definition

In the server settings for the system (location below), there is an
option called "Schedule Synchronization" - we have our ideas on what
this is, but to be safe before we utilize it, what is it for?

Located at: Server Settins>Manage Groups>Active Directory Sync
Options>Scheduling

Thanks

Project Server 2007 offers two types of Active Directory synchronization,
which are:

1. Automatically add resources to the Enterprise Resource Pool.
2. Automatically add resources to the appropriate security Groups in PWA.

The feature you describe is #2 above. If you select the "Schedule
Synchronization" option checkbox, you must specify the frequency at which
the AD synch will run, and then it will run automatically beginning on the
next scheduled time. Beyond this, you must also edit each security Group,
such as the Project Managers group or Team Members group, and select the AD
group to which the PWA security Group maps.

To do #1 above you need to click Server Settings > Active Directory
Enterprise Resource Pool Synchronization. Do know, however, that before you
can do either #1 above or #2 above, your Project Server administrator must
coordinate with the AD administrator, to make sure that there are the
following in AD:

-- An AD group that maps to the Enterprise Resource Pool
-- One AD group for every PWA security Group

Hope this helps.
