scheduleing receiveing e-mail

I am using Outlook 2003 and can't figure out how to schedule it to receive
mail at a certain time. I'd be happy if I could schedule for a specific time
of day but would settle for being able to set it to receive every 6 hours. I
would like it to send mail immediately. I am using a DSL connection and would
like to be able to work in Outlook (compose e-mails, etc) without it bogging
down while checking for new mail constantly. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you.

I use a Portuguese version, so I'll try to translate the task bar functions
and you should try to figure out which fits best in your language:

Tools > Options > Configure Email > Send/Receive > you should check the box
that says "schedule sending/receiving emails automatically every" and write,
for example, 600 minutes.

You will be able to send your messages immediately, but will receive yours
only every 600 minutes.
