Screen clippings problem - any solution out there?

Sorry to bring up an issue that has been considered in previous threads, but
I am yet to find a solution to my problem anywhere, so I was wondering if
anyone here knew of one. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to
respond.

Basically, I can't take screen clippings when using OneNote. Using Windows+S
or the insert menu allows me to highlight an area on the screen to clip, but
once taken, the clipping that is placed in my unfiled notes section and on my
clipboard contains ONLY the place holder plus the time stamp - there is no
image. This problem remains if I move the clipping to other files, or if I
paste the clipping directly into any OneNote file. Strangely, if I paste the
clipping into Word or GIMP, the image appears no problem. If I then cut this
image from Word or Gimp and paste into OneNote, again the image does not
appear.

To clarify:
- I am using Office 2007 & Vista Home Premium 64 bit
- I have the OneNote icon in the Task Bar
- I have right-clicked on the OneNote taskbar icon and under the 'Screen
Clipping Defaults' option I have selected 'Copy to Clipboard and Unfiled
Notes (Show Image)'.
- I have experimented with closing other programs (e.g. using IE instead of
Firefox etc.) to no avail.
- I have run the diagnostics function to no avail.
- I have changed the various 'paste as' defaults, to no avail. If I paste
normally (i.e. 'Keep Source Formating'), I get the place holder and
timestamp, but no image. If I 'paste as Picture', I get nothing - the cursor
moves as if I have pasted something, but nothing appears on the OneNote page.
- Other than this problem, OneNote and all my other Office programs work
perfectly.
- I have only just started using OneNote, and this problem has existed from
the first time I used it.

Does anyone know how to solve this annoying problem? Screen clipping seems
like one of the best features of OneNote.

Did you also try a "Repair" and/or a re-install?

I for one never had to face this issue.

What kind of video card does the computer use? Check to see if there
are any updated drivers for yours.

Rainald and Tim,

Thank you both for your replies.

Yes, I've reinstalled, to no avail.

As for the drivers for my ATI Radeon HD 4650 - I wish I could follow your
adivce, Tim. However, despite the fact that my current drivers are listed as
v8.54 and the current drivers to download from ATI's website are v9.11, Vista
won't let me update because when I try and use Device Manager to do this
(either automatically or manually downloading), it tells me that 'Windows has
determined the driver software for your device is up to date' and won't let
me get beyond this message.

I'm starting to think that my only recource is to upgrade to Windows 7 and
see if that works...
