Screen Resolution of EPS Graphic

S

Sam Steiner

I am importing EPS graphic images produced by AutoCad.
They import and print properly but the screen resolution
degrades when the image is updated. The Graphic Manager
reports 96dpi which looks about right. But the original
image is much higher resolution.

Is there any way to improve the on-screen resolution of
these liked files?

Thanks

Sam what is displayed in Publisher of the EPS graphic is the embedded
TIF/TIFF preview file. You are not seeing the actual EPS at all.

Unless there is a method in AutoCad to improve the DPI of the TIF preview
image, then there is no way to improve the screen resolution.

By the way, depending on what size screen you have, the best display
resolution is only 96dpi. Taking it above 96dpi will not improve the image
on the screen.

Thanks for the reply. The AutoCad PS printer driver
generates a "WMF" preview image. I am re-sizing the
graphic inside Pub to about 1/3 the original size.
Apparantly what is happening is that the screen
resolution of the preview bitmap is also getting re-
sized. I found a workaround by first inserting the
graphic file, then changing "embedded" to "linked", then
re-sizing. If you link after re-sizing, you get the
degraded preview image.
