Is it possible to take a "zoomed-in" screen shot of, say,
a toolbar or dialog box instead of having to take a
screen shot of the entire screen and editing it later to
get the portion you want?

You can capture dialog boxes using Alt+PrintScreen, which captures the
active window or dialog. For toolbars and other portions of the screen (and
for screen shots generally) I recommend dedicated screen capture software. I
have been using SnagIt from TechSmith (www.techsmith.com) for some time now
and am very pleased with it. All the screen shots at
http://home.earthlink.net/~wordfaqs were created using SnagIt.
