Scripting a window resize

I once had a script that would resize the main 'rage window to the
desktop size -5 pixels on the right and -10 pixels on the bottom. I'd
like to update this script for OS X, but I can't seem to figure out
how to get the dimensions of the desktop under X.

Any ideas?
