Scroll Wheel Won't Work in Office 2007

I just started using Office 2007. The scroll wheel on my mouse won't work
for scrolling up and down in Word or Excel - haven't tried the other
applications yet.

I called DELL and the Gold Support Rep didn't have any firm info on this
problem, although he found references to it.

What can I do to get the scroll wheel to work??
