Search Engine Screen Showing Instead of Local Folders Emails

As of today, for no apparent reason, whenever I want to view any emails in
my Local Folders a search engine screen is shown in their place (it is not a
separate pop-up). No text of any kind is displayed. It is some sort of
setting that I can't turn off at all and very random. I can't see why this
display would even be an option in "settings" for Outlook as it is completely
useless. I have to close Outlook and open it again to get back to where I
started and access other email accounts I use outlook with. I have no
problems of this sort accessing folders from my hotmail account.

This has happened before but it was some time ago and I can't recall how the
problem was rectified.

If anyone can offer any advice I'd be very grateful.

Many thanks.
