Search engine Submission

Josh Sawyer

What is the best way to submit a site one you are done with it in front
page?

Thank you
Josh

Same way as any other site - the web publishing program has nothing to do
with SE submissions.

I know that. But do most people submit them manually or use a program or one
of those online services?

Hi Josh,

Manually is better..one place to consider submitting to is called DMOZ Open
Directory..Located here:

http://dmoz.org/add.html

Submit to others manually as well..and then be patient..it can take quite
awhile (sometimes weeks or even months for some)

Go to the major search engines sites and submit it manually.

Ahhh - ok - the BEST way to do it is manually, in my 9 years experience...
If you use a service, they will promise you the world, charge you for it, and
you will be listed on FreeForAll link pages getting you spam mail forever!

Go to the major SE's and make your submissions manually,
Teri
:)

I'd never submit a site manually - the best way when you're ready to put a
site live is to link it from another site with a decent PR and let the
search engines find you. The only place to submit to manually is DMOZ. I'd
agree it's never a good idea to use any type of service - they certainly
won't help and in many cases will hurt.

Why not, Jon?

If you submit manually you'l go on the list of sites that may (or may not)
be crawled in the search engines own good time. Ideally what you want is one
link from a site with a Google PR of at least 4 - this should get you ranked
in a couple of days. I have several sites so to get a new site ranked I'll
put up a link from whichever site google happens to be spidering at the
time - this should get things moving in google msn and yahoo in a couple of
days. Submitting manually may take weeks, if not longer

Jon's advice is spot on. Most likely Google will index your site first
and then the other important ones such as Yahoo, MSN etc will follow a
bit later on. Make sure your website is well optimised for search
engines before you attempt to get it indexed.

By all means - but don't base your tactics on it, everyone can read the same
thing. SEO is about doing things other people don't know how to.
