Search Fields as Formatted

I have a form which contains a field for Customer Name. For some reason,
one cannot search on this field unless "Search Fields As Formatted" is
checked after hitting the "Find" Button. Is there a way to permanently
turn this on? In order to get to this, one much click on the Find button
and then clck on More and then click "Search Fields As Formatted". This
is quite a lot to ask. On some workstations, this is already turned on
by default?

If there is no way to turn this on, how could I do this in a macro?
