Search Function does not work

Hi, I have tried to add the search function web component in
FrontPage, however, whenever I try to use it it comes up with the
following error:

FrontPage Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a
web server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.

This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you
publish this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server
Extensions installed.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Are you talking about using it on your local machine or on the remote live
web?

The FrontPage Server Extensions must be installed and configured for your
account for the Search Function to work. You must http publish (not ftp) to
the site.

well it's for our internal intranet - so it won't be published to a
website - people will just be accessing it from a drive on our
terminal server

As Tom said, the FrontPage search will only work on a Website with
FrontPage extensions. Your situation needs something else - a desktop
search, for example.
