James,

I'm at least 99.999% sure that you are sadly mistaken in your
misidentification. Why do I say this? Take, for instance, this post made by
Sue Compelling:

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.access.forms/msg/cec3a1249a53c9c9?dmode=source

which shows the following header information:

Thread-Topic: Inserting Date/Time stamps
X-WBNR-Posting-Host: 222.155.104.54
From: =?Utf-8?B?U3VlIENvbXBlbGxpbmc=?=
<[email protected]>
Subject: Re: Inserting Date/Time stamps
Date: Tue, 17 Oct 2006 14:32:01 -0700

Looking up the IP address, 222.155.104.54, in Melissa Data, we see that this
person posted from New Zealand:

http://www.melissadata.com/Lookups/iplocation.asp?ipaddress=222.155.104.54

This message was also posted from New Zealand:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.access/msg/0022416fa8135c2f?dmode=source

http://www.melissadata.com/Lookups/iplocation.asp?ipaddress=222.153.14.1

I think you owe Sue a very public apology!

The response from PC was predictable. Posting from another country is
not quite enough Tom. Do you have anything else to go on? PC Datasheet
has posted to the newsgroups from other nations before, namely Italy and
the U.S. when he lived in Canada. If by some minuscule chance the
poster is not PC Datasheet then she has my sincere apologies, but I
still doubt that's the case. There was just too much of PC Datasheet's
paw print on the post to let him put one past us again. This is only an
opinion, but it is a very strong one.

I've never seen any such posts. Please provide a Google link to posts that
you believe were made by Steve, which originated from Italy or any other
country (other than the US, where he resides). And tell us, exactly, what it
is in those posts that leads you to believe that they came from Steve.

Spell it out! What do you see that leads (has mislead) you to believe that
the OP is an impostor. Don't just make malicious charges without being
willing to provide some type of proof. Otherwise, my opinion of you will sink
to the level of an an individual named Aaron. Yeah, you know who I mean.
This is only an opinion, but it is a very strong one.

Okay, back it up. Prove me wrong, if you can. I don't think you can.

Oh, by the way, I received a private e-mail from Sue as well, and I invited
her to send me a copy of her database. FYI, this message originated from New
Zealand as well. The database in question is for a volunteer organization
that supports breast cancer research. I know Stevie well enough to know that
he's not so generous with his time to do volunteer work for such a worthy
organization.

Sorry but I don't quite see it. Sue has a different style than Steve.
I believe that he has been posting in Access NG's under various
aliases for at least 10 years. And he's still a relative newbie!

Yeah, Steve is the class one years experience repeated for ten years.
Although in his case it's more like a few months.

I will gather up the references for my statements. It may take a few
days because Google search words change over time and old articles are
harder to find. Also, note that I've also read nearly every post since
late 1994 to comp.databases.ms-access and nearly every post within the
last few years to microsoft.public.access so that even apart from
everything else I'll post, I have a basis for my opinions. Regarding
the post to one of the Access groups from Italy, the "spam" Italian site
made me suspect PC and the whois information showed a company based in
the same Canadian city as a campus of the university PC was working at
at the time. I'll look for that post along with the rest. It's an
unfortunately necessary waste of my time. I might even run a
statistical correlation on unique language or on post dates to
corroborate everything. That should give a good idea even if the poster
attempts to change their style somewhat to throw people off. I'd
actually rather not mention who I suspect or the university he worked
at, or his wife and children, but note that my opinion actually got
stronger as I looked at more of "Sue"'s past posts. Over time the
change in Google search words would act to protect his identity. I
don't want to get into an argument with an employee of one of my best
customers so if it comes down to that I'll just stop posting in this NG
and perhaps go into lurker mode if necessary to keep from offending you.

I am personally acquainted with Sue Kapeli (Compelling is the name of her
company). She lives only about 10 kilometres from me in Auckland, New
Zealand. I have just had a conversation with her by telephone and she is
very distressed by your accusations. She is especially concerned that they
might tarnish her with an undeserved reputation resulting in her requests
for help in these forums being ignored.

You have made a big mistake here and you need to pull your head in and post
a public apology in this thread.

I will take your word that you know her and I offer my apologies to her
publicly for associating her with PC Datasheet based on the contents of
her posts. It is unfortunate that the massive number of fake posts by
that joker led me to suspect an innocent poster. I am so saddened that
such a thing could happen to me that it will be quite a while before I
feel confident enough to post here again, if ever.

James,

First, thank you for apologizing. I accept your apology, and I hope Sue will
as well.

I too have been a victim of Stevie, when he posted a question using the name
of "Mary" (or was it "Jane"--I don't remember now). It did not feel good at
the time.
You've been a valuable respondent in the past, who has helped others with
their questions; I welcome your continued participation in these newsgroups.
Anyone can make a mistake. Not everyone is capable of admitting when they
were wrong. You did, so let's just wipe the slate clean and move on.

Thank you again so much Tom (you're supposed to be on holiday!!!!) and indeed
to you as well Graham (a very suprising phone call this morning).

I didn't want this invaluable forum to be closed to me if others believed
James' accusations.

Kind Regards

A mistake was made. An apology offered. Case closed.
