Version: 2008 Processor: Intel I have been given a used Mac, and although I have erased all the emails,attachments... I can still see all the items in the search history (small arrow that turns into a drop down menu).
The option "rebuild" in the spotlight in the preference menu doesn't work.
I have also tried to go to Spotlight (System preferences) but there is no option to clear history.
Please help!!!

Thank you very much,
Sis

I have also tried to go to Spotlight (System preferences) but there is no
option to clear history.
Please help!!!

1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
2. Click Spotlight.
3. Click the Privacy tab.
4. Drag a folder or even an entire volume (your hard drive) to the
list.
5. Remove the item or volume you just added.

Spotlight will re-index the contents of the item you initially dragged to
the list.

Thanks Diane, that doesn't clear the History drop down menu in the search bar. This history seems to remember everything that was been entered in the search box regardless of whether it is in my hard drive (or anywhere else) or not.
I am looking for the equivalent of "clear history data" in firefox, or Intenet explorer. Or even the option to erase manually the latest searches from Google.
Thanks for your support,
Sis

I'm a bit confused if this is an Entourage specific or a general Mac
question. This newsgroup is for the discussion of Microsoft Entourage. I
need you to be more specific, but it sounds like you could be wanting to
delete the system caches that would store this info. The Apple Discussions
lists are the best place to ask about general Mac questions.

I would like to delete the history from the Search drop down box in Entourage 2008. This is the basic drop down box to the right of the Send/Receive.

AFAIK this is not possible. Entourage doesn¹t remember long lists here. Why
is this a problem?

Hey, here's how to "delete" the search history in Entourage. In the Search box in Entourage where you see the entries you want to delete just hit the space bar and then enter. Then hit space bar twice and enter, then three times and enter and so on until the search history shows completely empty. I think it only can retain 10 recent searches, so do as many "space(s) + enter" until the drop-down history list is clear.

:) Took me a while to figure this out, and found your post a few times while I searched for the answer online.
