Search ignoring results after a certain date

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

When I try to search in the upper-right search box, there are no results for any date after 06-25-2009. There are no filters turned on and I have not specified a date range. It's as if it simply stopped indexing. I double-checked the preferences and "Include Entourage items in Spotlight search results" is checked. I tried rebuilding. I also tried turning off the spotlight option, closing entourage, turning the option back on, and closing entourage again to force a rebuild.

Update: now the upper right (magnifying glass) search box is not working at all!
