Another thing to remember, RTM Office 2007 search does not work with Pre-RTM Vista installations.

After furious head scratching, jimmuh asked:
| Under which operating system are you using Office 2007? If you are
| running it under Vista, then the instant search function should be
| enabled by default, I think, when Office 2007 gets installed.
| However, it did not work that way for me. I had to go into Tools |
| Instant Search | Search Options and UNcheck the data sources I wanted
| to be included in the searches. OK my way out of the dialog. Quit,
| then restart Outlook. Then go in an put checkmarks back in the boxes
| for my PST and Hotmail files. Then, of course, OK out of the dialog,
| quit, restart. Heh. I just love toggling.
|
| If you're using Office 2007 under an earlier OS then I believe you
| need to install the desktop search software and then enable the
| instant search function in Outlook.
|
| Sorry to be so vague, but hope this gets you started toward getting
| the search function to work. Once it is set up properly it works very
| well.
|
| I've seen a number of funny little quirks like this in Office 2007. No
| show-stoppers, but some little glitches than can be pretty annoying
| until you figure them out.
