Search in Open Dialog

In Office 97 I could type in a portion of a document name
in the "File Name:" portion of the open dialog box. I
would get a filtered list of documents based on the text
that I typed. I have recently converted to XP and I am
not able to do so. Is this feature available in XP and if
so, how do I get it back?

This should still work. Can you give us an example of a search string

For instance, I have some files that begin with the word
backup. If I type backup, it does not filter those files.
