Can someone tell me why when I do a search and just put
in the name thats in the from catagory in the news groups
it will not come up with anything.
hope you can help

Hi Steve,

Let's start from the beginning because I don't know what you
are actually doing. The following link will set you up to
search the *Excel* newsgroups using Google Advanced Groups search

http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=group:*Excel*&num=100

into the author field you can enter something like one of the following
[email protected]
Tom Ogilvy

If you are talking about searching in your newsbrowser (Microsoft CDO)
then I can't help you. Not many people here actually use it. But there are
a few. If you are not behind a corporate firewall you would be much
better off using something different.

If you are on your own computer at home (it's Sunday) then I would
suggest using Outlook Express as your newsreader. If you have
Internet Explorer then you have Outlook Express. I have directions

Thank you I'll give that a try and see if I can make that
work. what I was trying to do is search the newsgroup for
an old posting that I had left and didn't get back to
check until now. so I clicked on the search button at the
bottom of the posting list and put my name in the from
line and hit search. it doesn't bring anything up.
