Searching for text in documents

I cannot retrieve any documents by searching text even
though I know the documents are there. I type letters by
the same doctors and save them with a file name like 0104-
22994 for month-year and account number. I have tried to
search for the doctors' names when I can't find it by
looking under file name, but the documents are never
found. I know their names are on documents in the
location I specify. Does anyone else have this problem?

Try widening your location to the entire C drive or the entire computer.
Windows has a diabolical way of moving or copying entries from the "My
Computer" folder to other locations.

Just a thought but you might find it more efficient to organize your
files differently.

For example, make separate folders for the accounts, and put the docs
in there named by date

OR

Make separate folders for accounts, and subfolders by the senders'
names, and then name the documents according to the name of the
recipient.

There are of course other options.

The main point is that giving serial numbers (as in dates) to file
names kind of eliminates that useful feature of being able to give
long and descriptive file names.

I, too, am having this type of problem. When I use Word2000 to search for a specified word in a folder containing .doc files, Word crashes and gives the error message: "Word has caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at [then lists memory locations]." I was able to use this feature in the past, but Word will no longer respond. I have used "Detect and Repair", but this hasn't helped. Does anyone have any suggestions
