searching public sub-folders

I am tring to search for contacts in a public folder that contains
sub-folders. When doing a search using Advanced Find\Browse\Select Folder the
option to Search Subfolders is grayed out.

I can select a sub-folder through Advanced Find\Browse\Select Folder and
find my contact which is only good if you know what sub-folder it is in.

That's the nature of the beast. In public folders you can only search in one
folder at a time, not across the entire store, as with a mailbox or PST
file.

Not likely since Public Folders will be a thing of the past in a couple more
versions of Exchange.

What Milly is referring to is the plan to deprecate public folders in
Exchange 12 and remove them completely in Exchange 13. They would be
replaced by SharePoint Portal Server. That was announced at TechEd. Whether
or not they stick with the plan is something we're all waiting to see.
