I want to build a staffing scheduling database that would
work similar to what I would describe as filling in
concert seats. I want to specify the number of seats
(blocks of time) that are available in a specific row
(work station). As the employees request to work these
blocks of time, the database would fill the blocks. When
someone made a specific request, say for six hours on any
given day, Access would "look" for a work station that
have six consecutive one hour blocks of time available.
Can someone give me an idea of how this may be set up, or
if there's anything already out there that works in this
manner. Like I said, it would seem that ticket sales
companies would use a system similar to this -- x number
of spaces available and the ability to fill them leaving
few empty spaces with no overlap.
