Second Verification Issue with Authentication App

I've recently bought a new phone and unfortunately, I hadn't backed up the data from my old phone, which I've since lost. My second step verification is typically done through the Authentication App.
Although my first verification method via phone number is functioning properly, I'm unable to connect to my account using the authenticator app.

I've tried various solutions, but none have been successful.

Thank you for your assistance.

Losing access to your Authenticator app after losing a phone is a stressful situation, but since your first verification method (phone number) is still working, you have a very strong chance of recovering the account.

Because you have a new phone, the Authenticator app is currently "empty" because the security keys were stored locally on your old device. Here is the step-by-step process to regain access and set up your new phone.

Step 1: Use "Try Another Way"

Since your phone number works, you can bypass the Authenticator requirement:

  1. Go to the Google Sign-in page and enter your email and password.
  2. When it asks for the Authenticator code, click on "Try another way" at the bottom.
  3. Select "Get a verification code at (your phone number)".
  4. Enter the SMS code you receive. This should let you into your account.

Step 2: Update your Security Settings

Once you are logged in, you must "de-register" the old phone's authenticator and set up the new one:

  1. Go to your Google Account Security settings.
  2. Click on 2-Step Verification.
  3. Find the Authenticator app section and click the arrow or "Change phone."
  4. Select "Set up authenticator". A QR code will appear on your computer screen.
  5. Open the Authenticator app on your new phone, tap the + icon, and scan that QR code.
