section break breaks formatting

I am typing a one-page newsletter which should be formatted as; section one -
the nameplate, section two - three column body, section three - one column
with a table.

My problem is that at the end of section two, when I try to insert a
continuos section break to type the table in section three, formatting for
section two breaks. I cannot figure out how to do this and my ms word teacher
does not know either. Why does formatting break and how can I fix it and
finish the project???

TIA, I know one (many) of you know what the answer is.

Could you please describe how the "formatting breaks" in more detail?
