Section Break Odd Page - Does not work

The only way that I can get a “section break-odd page†to work is if I set
the page setup headers option "different odd/even" = True. I have looked all
over and can not find any documented connection between these two fields. I
want my headers/footers to be the same on odd/even pages.

Is there a way to have Section break-odd page work without turning on
headers option "different odd/even"?

Reading between the lines, you may be able to get what you want without
introducing different odd and even if you choose "mirror margins".

I'm guessing the reason your "odd" page break isn't working is because you
are restarting the page numbering (typically, at 1 after roman numbered
prelims). If Word "thinks" you are on single-sided, it will always test odd
and even against the page number. It will therefore count that page as odd
(because 1 is an odd number), whether or not the page is "odd" counted from
the beginning.

Conversely, if you have mirror margins and/or different odd and even, Word
paginates on the basis that you will be duplex printing, and that "odd"
means recto, and "even" verso. You'll then get a blank backing page if
necessary before a right-hand page (and you will find whatever starting
number you set Word will make the actual page number odd).
