Section Page Numbering

Jerry

I have a document set up with six sections, as follows (with page numbering settings)
1. Cover and copyright (roman, start at i
2. Table of contents (roman, continuing
3. Body of text (arabic, start at 1
4. Index title (arabic, continue
5. Index (arabic, continue
6. Back matter (arabic, continue
The index has two sections to break between the single-column title and the 2-column index

When I update fields in the book the numbering for Section 4 changes to "Start at 1." What's happening? Also, related or not, the headers and footers from section 4 on all change to "Same as Previous" at the same time

Suggestions? Thanks
Jerry

Sorry, I forgot to mention in my previous post that I'm using Word 2000 (9.0.4402 SR-1)

I am having the same problem as Jerry with having different sections of my document requiring different page number formats

Please can someone help with this!? Is there any way to input the numbers you want by hand without changing all of the document each time you use a different format.
