i am in the process of sharing my secured db onto network but when i open it
with my permissions the code fails on my events for my forms eg on open and
click events. Does anyone know why this is happening.

It sounds like you are not in FULL command of Access workgroup
security. That is VERY dangerous, because it is an advanced topic and
you can easily lock yourself out if you're not careful. Download,
study, and fully understand the Access Security FAQ from microsoft.com
before proceeding.

I have read Faq but parts of it a bit heavy. Not very user friendly. Have
secured it but am struggling with the short cut and the target path. Can you
tell me where the MDW would reside and where the source MDB would reside. I
have set the permissions for each user which works fine on my machine from
the server, but if i go to another machine it says have not got permissions
to access even though it stored in same folder as previously before i secured
it. can you help me

I have read the FAQ's and followed it up have secured and taken ownership of
all my databases that work fine from my machine reading from the server. But
now i have returned them to the server and access them from another machine
it doesn't ask for passwords or usernames. I have created the work groups
manually as i am struggling with understanding where the short cut goes what
the target syntax is and where the MDB & MDW are stored to secure them
properly. Can you help me a little bit please. Many thanx Tom

The MDW would reside on the server, and as Joan alrealy said, the
shortcut on everyone's desktop is:
<path_to>msaccess.exe <path_to>your.mde /wrkgrp
\\myServer\myShare\my.mdw
The application should be split, with each user having an MDE on their
workstation, and a shared back-end MDB on the server.

Thanks again Tom. If i go to options on the backend db an click run owner
permissions that would be ok. I have put a password on is that ok. The MDW is
now on the server can i hide that file? Now if i make an MDE version is that
the shortcut that i need to edit the target on and store on each machine.
Once again thanks for helping me.

Thank you Tom i think i have done it. Only problem so far when i installed
the shortcut it said no permission. So i et access to run from my mdw
location and up it came. I still own it on one machine but not another. I had
to go through all the permissions again but runs ok. So has it worked?? How
can itest it to know for sure?? Thank again
