Securing Budget Info in Shared Spreadsheet

I have a team budget with several worksheets. One sheet has salary info and I
need to keep the confidential (for me only). But I would like to let other
team members look at and edit other worksheets (ie costs for projects they're
managing). Can you recommend a method for this?

Last year, team members created their own project spreadsheets and then I
linked to their data. I also put a hyperlink on (my) team worksheet so I
could easily click to see their actual spreadsheet. They never actually
looked at the master team spreadsheet. Is there some way to get all of this
data in one spreadsheet, but still be very, very sure that some of the
workheets will be protected. I don't mind the linking too much - but one
problem I've had is that when IT moves drives or folder locations due to
stoarge issues, then I need to redo the cell links to the individual project
spreadsheets.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Regards,
Mary

Be aware that it is virtually impossible to instill absolute security in
Excel. If the observance of the data by others is critical, DO NOT include
it in a workbook they have access to.

Thanks Chuck, I appreciate your help. It seems then that I must get them to
create Project Cost spreadsheets and then I link there infomration into my
Team spreadsheet.

Is there a way to make links so that if the Project Cost spreadsheets move
to a new netdrive location, my Team spreadsheet doesn't open with a bunch of
broken links? In the past I've been linking info cell by cell, maybe that's
the wrong approach since fixing dozens of links is a pain.

Talk to your MIS folks, explain the problem, and hopefully they can give you
a secure directory that is not subject to frequent change, where you can put
your reference data.
