Security feature in Frontpage 2000?

The security option under tools is grayed out (not available). I would like
to deploy this feature so that only friends/family members can access my
webpage.

The software is installed on a PC running Windows XP Professional.

You can not access this locally, you must open the site on the live/remote server, create a subweb
(if your host allows you to) then if the host allows, you will be able to set unique permissions
after opening the subweb and selecting the Security option.

To clarify - I must create a subweb folder (if allowed) on the remote server
via ftp, upon return to my local machine I will be able to access the newly
created subweb and apply security permissions...

No.

You must create folder on the remote server by opening the live/remote site directly in FP, then
selecting the folder and converting it to a subweb.

Still in FP on the live/remote site: Next you would double click to open the subweb, then you can
set unique permissions if your host allows you this option.
