Security on tables or records only

Is it possible to place security on tables or the records only? I have a
database that will be used by many users but we don't want them to be able to
view other users data. Putting a password on the database does not address
this issue and neither does creating a back end database. In the backend
database they can input their information on the forms but they can also
still view others information. Is there any way to put privacy on the tables
or records? Any help would be great. Thanks.
