All:

Microsoft just released Security Update 11.2.5.

Please be aware that they have taken the opportunity to roll some bug fixes
into this one. I suggest that you may wish to rush to install this one, it
fixes one of the most annoying trivial issues we have :)

However, Exchange Server users, for goodness sake read the instructions
FIRST!!!

This update fixes an issue for users of Entourage 2004 11.2.3 and Mac OS X
10.4.5 or later that caused all open calendar event windows to display the
warning:
"Event and computer time zones do not match. In Calendar Views, the event
time is adjusted to display correctly."

Thanks for the info and links.

Problem : Entourage won't start now that I've updated it... I've
repaired permissions and tried to revert to 11.2.4 to no avail. It
crashes right away (kern_bad_access).
Ideas anyone?

Thanks!

I recently moved from CA to MN, Pacific to Central, and Entourage
"helped" by changing the times of past appointments by two hours. I know
this would help me if I were scheduling *new* events, but I simply would
like my old events to display the original times.

If this cannot be changed, not the end of the world. I can print my
previous calendars after changing the time zone on my Mac, then file the
printed copies for billing purposes.

What would be really cool is if the local time could be displayed, with
a notation (10p PST for example) instead of changing the times
themselves. When I travel, I don't always remember to change the time on
the Mac and within Entourage... I'll admit that's a low priority on long
trips.

Already done on one computer. The Office Updater popped the window up to
do this before the computer was fully loaded on my G4-500. have yet to
do this on my G-1.67gb PowerBook 17". (Scary almost like an active-X
control.)

Check Login Items in System Preferences to see if there is more than one
Microsoft Database Daemon. If you see more than one Microsoft Database
daemon delete them all and let Entourage recreate a new one.

If the problem is a bad install, use Remove Office and install and update
Office. You will need your CD key when installing. Remove Office does not
remove your Microsoft User Data folder. (this is the folder where all your
mail/data is stored).

Okay, so there's nothing Repair Permissions will do for E'rage. It's not on
the list of items that RP touches.

Second, have you tried blowing out all the E'rage preferences?

Thanks everyone for replying. A reboot got Entourage back up and
running... So I removed my message from the newsgroup.
But I still have one issue " the Entourage notifications crash.
Everytime one is due to pop-up, I get a crash window. These issues are
the first I have had with Office updates for years. Again, ideas?
Thanks for your time.

Hi Alex,

Any reason why you cross-posted to the Word newsgroup? I've removed it from
this reply since the answer to your question should come from the Entourage
ng.

I have no idea how that happened. I am terribly sorry! I'll remove my
posts and go post them where I started this...
Again sorry for cross-posting.

Again sorry for cross-posting.

John McGhie originally posted his message to the Word & Entourage groups, so
the subsequent replies (including yours) were directed to both groups until
you removed one on your own. By the way, there's probably no need to remove
postings; removing them on Google Groups won't remove them from USENET & the
Microsoft News Server.

Hi Alex:

My guess is that you have one incompatible module in use somewhere.

I would try the following:

1) Repair permissions (to ensure the installer has write access where it
needs it)

2) Remove the Daemon from Startup Items (to ensure that it doesn't start
and re-load the bad module)

3) Reboot (to kill the bad module out of memory)

4) Run the patch again

Good luck! If that doesn't work, we'll have to do a complete Remove and
Replace. Chances are one module was in an un-writeable state when the patch
ran, so it hasn't been updated.

John (Welch) does this make sense?

Hope this helps

Make sure you have applied the VERY latest (11.2.5...) patch to Microsoft
Office. It fixes the Entourage Time Zone bug.

Once you have applied the patch, you MUST reboot the computer to cause all
parts of the system to pick up the changes.

Hope this helps

What CSW is asking about is not a bug, and has nothing to do with the minor
Tome Zone bug that was fixed in 11.2.5. As he seems to be aware, Entourage
is operating as intended - calendar events are time zone aware, and useful
when traveling.

There is no way fix all of them at once. What I suggest is that you just
forget about events in the deep past, and fix upcoming scheduled events by
opening each one, go to Event menu/Time Zone, and change the time zone to
your new time zone. That will restore the correct time in your new location
(assuming you entered the correct time when you created it back in your old
time zone).

For new events, make sure you have set the the time zone correctly in
Entourage/preferences/Calendar/Default time zone for new events, and you
won't have to worry about it. (And I deduce that you have already set the
time zone correctly for your computer in System Preferences.)

P.S. Why did you cross-post this to the Word newsgroup? It has nothing to do
with Word, and can lead to some confusion...
