Security Update KB946985

This update was automatically installed this morning and immediately stopped
my send & receive function. When I uninstalled it my emails started flowing
again. Can anybody advise me how to get over this problem, please? Do
Microsoft know about it?

Odd. The KB article says the update cannot be uninstalled. At any rate,
did you read the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946985 ? It says:

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary.

Did you make that call and ask the people who answer?

That update has noting to do with send/receive functionality so I doubt that
update is the actual cause of your issue. However, the update does update
the built number of Outlook. If you have a 3rd party firewall tool which
checks built-numbers than you must reconfigure your firewall to allow
Outlook access to the Internet.
